Local Tourist Information Centres and Shops

VisitScotland Inverness iCentre

36 High St, Inverness IV1 1JQ, UK – 01463 252401

Good visitor center, not outstanding to me. They have us okay enough info. We had to wait quite a bit.

Good informations centre for book local tours. Nice services & helpful .

Iona Highland Tours Ltd

53 Kenneth St, Inverness IV3 5PZ, UK – 07715 217274

Appreciated them taking the last minute booking. Minor complaints would be the cheese sandwich for lunch (can we get some meat on that?), and twice we drove past the big tourist stops and instead stopped down the road with the promise that the photos would be better. They weren't. Especially Old Man of Storr... can't even see it in my photo. You need to stop where everyone else does.

Kind, knowledgeable, small tours of the Highlands. Wendy pointed out the first storm of winter rolling into Applecross, while we watched from the steep black bluffs of Skye. It was beautiful. We’ll never forget that afternoon. “Iona Highland Tours” isn’t a big operation. It’s Wendy, plus some family and seasonal help. We only got to meet Wendy. She is a true gem, makes a fantastic warming soup, and adores this landscape. Her passion is infectious. Truly great experience.

Boat Moorings & Marinas

Inverness Marina Limited

Longman Dr, Inverness IV1 1SU, UK – 01463 220501

Helpful staff, even though they didn't supply me what I required, but informative enough to point me in the right direction. It just a pity I have to ship the material in from the USA,!! Having visited four other suppliers coming up through England, all of whom were uninterested when they couldn't supply my needs, and tried to sell me an alternative that they assured my "was similar, and would be an ample substitute" it is just as well I knew what I was asking for. All I expect from a shop is people who know what they are selling and "man" enough to say they don't stock it, and if they explain where I am likely to get it, all the better. Thanks

Very nice marina. Only stayed one night but the facilities were clean and nice to use and lots available. Staff were friendly.

British Waterways

Tomnahurich Bridge, Glenurquhart Rd, Inverness IV3 5TD, UK – 01463 231728

I love canals also but the walks and scenery are great

Very well maintained. Walked both ways now from the Tomnahurich Swing bridge. Probably packed in the summer!

Boat Trips & Excursions - if available

Jacobite Cruises

Glenurquhart Rd, Inverness IV3 5TD, UK – 01463 233999

My husband and I took a trip on the Jacobite Queen on our recent visit to Inverness and it was wonderful. The scenery, the staff, the hospitality, the boat were all amazing but the best part was the interaction with our 'host' Malcolm who was a brilliant addition to the trip! He imparts knowledge about the loch and villages and some local history, but he comes across as such a lively character and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with him. He even sang Flower Of Scotland for the passengers! A lovely way to spend a few hours!! X

It was a small comfortable boat for maybe 12 people .... very pleasant skipper (not sure captain or skipper) .... could not of wished for a pleasanter trip on loch ....

Inverness Tours

High St, Inverness IV1 9JB, UK – 01667 455699

I just completed a 12 day tour of Scotland, and it was the trip of a lifetime, thanks in large part to the driver, Scott, provided by this company. If all their driver/guides are as knowledgeable, accommodating and fun as ours, you will have a wonderful trip. I can't recommend them more highly.

We needed a driver to take us to meet our friends in Inveraray, Scotland to eat lunch at the Loch Fyne restaurant. We were introduced to Scott Guthrie with Inverness Tours. He contacted us immediately...before we were in Scotland...and set about planning our adventure for one day. Very good at communication, knew exactly where to meet and what we were going to do. He entertained us the whole way...full of information about Scotland. It's always fun to be with someone who loves their country and wants to tell you all about it. Scott did this. If you want a wonderful guide whose committed to his job...Scott's the one!

WOW Scotland Tours

Inverness Bus Station, Inverness IV1 1JT, UK – 01808 511773

What great tours and a great price! We booked the Invergordon/Inverness tour before we left home. Andy and Paul were great and we saw so much in one day. We paid to have the extra leg room and it was well worth it as it made the trip very comfortable. When the tour ended, we booked for the following day in Edinburgh. Gordon and Graham were wonderful and very knowledgeable. St. Andrew's was the highlight of our day! I highly recommend WOW Scotland.

GREAT TOUR! Highly recommended. This smaller company will make you feel like you're family. I went on a couple other "small bus" tours, but they felt impersonal and 'off the shelf". WOW Scotland gave us a fun, more personal view of the highlands and Skye with a knowledgeable and humorous guide and driver.

Local Parks & Gardens

Bellfield Park

3 Bellfield Park, Inverness IV2 4SZ, UK – 07795 323245

Fully fenced off area with great play ground stuff for the kids! Small shop on site and also you can rent bike from the place. Tennis courts and outside gym equipment all based here. A really nice park for the kids which in the summer has an outdoor paddling pool for everyone! Always busy and well kept gardens/grass. A must for a cheap day out with the kids

We Walked from Milburn road to Bellfield with one of our grand kids. We all had a go with the outdoor gymnasium, had a refreshment at tiny cafe (might pay them to invest in modern larger eatery) I'm sure this would encourage more visitors. I saw a couple of cars parked near entrance gate being booked by traffic warden. Bound to put visitors off coming back. Need advice on where best to park. Good to see that certain times are offered for free tennis.

Whin Park

Bught Rd, Inverness IV3 5TH, UK – 01463 234286

A great place to spend an hour or two, especially with young kids or your family. There's a nice wee pond where you can hire a rowboat for half an hour for £7, a miniature railway that takes its passengers through a small wooded area and over a bridge (tickets are £2.50 pp), and a small playback area in the form of a plane. There's actually a large variety of things to use like swings, climbing frames, slides, a seesaw, and one of those weird exercise parks at the far end of the boating pond. I used to go there often as a child, so now as an "adult" I can still say this place is loads of fun! I would definitely recommend this place :)

Lovely park with free entry. There is a small walk by the river, boating for families about £8 per boat (row) and a large play area. One of the better places we have visited in Scotland. There is a small ice cream shop outside. Only downside is the loos have been dirty each time we have been.

Inverness Botanic Gardens

Bught Ln, Inverness IV3 5SS, UK – 01463 713553

This place was a brilliant discovery. All the exotic plants were in flower on our June visit. The adjacent Hobbs Café was a delight too.

The Botanic Gardens in Inverness is well worth a visit. There is good parking and it is free to park. There is a wee restaurant which looked busy the day I visited. Once you enter the heated glasshouse it is another world of beauty. I loved the variety of Amaryllis and the exotic plants on display.

Great website!. Click below to find gardens open during the year around Inverness or Inverness-shire. There are photos and lots of detail about the garden.
Glendruidh House Hotel

Old Edinburgh Rd S, Inverness IV2 6AR, UK – 01463 226499

A great hotel, tucked away in a quiet location just outside Inverness. If you're looking for an antidote to the characterless impersonal modern hotel, this is it. Very friendly owners who are rightly proud of a hotel full of character. The room was large, clean, cosy and quiet. Breakfast was fuss free and excellent.

Beautiful home. Nice rooms. Breakfast was delicous. Very courteous host, Michael. Would most definitely recommend.
